From the song's writer Jess Grace Garcia:

"I wrote this in March of 2020 when we were all filled with fear and unknowing of what the future would hold. I especially felt this because my wife is a nurse, and we had to have some very real life-or-death conversations about the rate in which we were losing medical professionals to Covid-19.

After sharing the song with my coproducer, Evan, he encouraged me to record it. I saw it as a perfect opportunity to collaborate with queer-affirming musicians throughout the globe. As we started to record the video, we were entering a time of political unrest, and marches were happening for Black Lives Matter, and it seemed more prevalent than ever before. While I normally wait to share songs with my community, I shared it then.

After a year anniversary of recording, I thought now would be the appropriate opportunity to share this song so that we remember we are still fighting the fight for equality and justice."
